2nd year senior cycle students taking the subject Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have attended an online talk by Mr. Josep A. Garí, Head / Climate, Forests & Land (Bureau for Policies and Programmes, United Nations Development Program -UNDP- Geneva, Switzerland) in order to delve deeper into the causes and consequences of climate change, always from a comprehensive perspective. Mr. Garí explained to them what economic, political and social factors will have to change in order to make sustainability a reality in the 21st century, and how we can speed up this process.
A session inviting students to analyse current barriers and propose practical or theoretical solutions to make the 21st century truly be the century of sustainability.
The subject of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is an optional annual 4-hour-per-week course offered in the second year of the senior cycle. The subject takes and interdisciplinary approach to teaching the students about the SDGs, analysing specific situations that may have local and global implications for sustainability (social, economic and environmental) and thereby contribute to achieving the implementation of UNESCO's Agenda 2030.
