We are very excited to announce that this year Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi is part of the 48h Open House BCN festival program in the PRO category.
This festival reveals the city through the lens architecture and urban planning with guided tours of buildings and emblematic spaces, giving visitors the opportunity to discover what happens behind the façades of these structures. It provides a unique glimpse into how they operate and a fresh way to experience architecture.
Next Sunday, October 27, from 3 pm to 7 pm, we are opening Sant Ignaci's doors to give visitors an inside look at some of our new spaces. The tour will be led by Carles Bárcena, a partner at AQUIDOS, the architecture firm behind the transformation of several areas of the school.
Sant Ignasi, an emblematic building in Barcelona designed by the architect Joan Martorell Montells between 1888 and 1910, is a jewel of the Catalan neo-Gothic style. Built with exposed brick and inspired by English schools, it stands as an educational and cultural landmark with a rich history of serving the city.
Since 2018, the architecture studio AQUIDOS has been carrying out renovations and adaptations to meet new educational needs, always with a respect for the building's heritage. This continuous transformation spotlights the history and modernity in innovative learning spaces.
During the tour, visitors will get a closer look at both the original iconic spaces and the most recent changes made to align the architecture with educational needs.
