At the end of January, a group of 3rd year lower secondary students travelled to Erlenbach (Germany) to take part in an exchange with the Joseph Schwarz Schule to work on a project in the field of Global Citizenship.
The goal of this project is to respond to real challenges in our environment and to give our students a better understanding of the world, enabling them to contribute to improving it.
While staying in Erlenbach and Barcelona, students participating in the project attend school and live with their host families. At school they share some of the activities with the students of the course and become involved in the daily life of the school. However, they have a programme specially designed for them, which includes some cultural visits. Within the families, the students are welcomed as a member of the family and are encouraged to participate in the family routine like any other child.
Our students' experience in Erlenbach was wonderful!
During these days we have welcomed in Barcelona the students of Joseph Schwarz Schule that we met in Germany. The stay has been short but very eventful: everything from a walk and ice cream in Barceloneta, a visit to the Sagrada Família, a day of leisure and culture in Sitges, socialising and a walk in Park Güell, to sharing classes with our partners, participating in the school's German classes, and in the creation of the INFOPOINT of the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS) with news in different languages (English, German, Spanish, Catalan) related to Europe and its citizenship.
On the last day we handed out certificates of participation to all the students who took part.
This experience helps to shape the life project of our students: offering them the opportunity to learn, get to know and understand other countries, cultures and people, while putting into practice the language learnt in class.
