The 13th Solidarity Lentils Dinner, held yesterday at Sant Ignasi Sarrià School, brought together 761 people in a night packed with solidarity and empathy. The generosity of all the attendees and partners has made it possible this year to raise more than €25,000, which will be used to continue supporting socially vulnerable children, young people and families in Badalona.
"We cannot put into words how grateful we are," said Centre Sant Jaume. "Your engagement is what makes our projects happen."
Over 25 years Centre Sant Jaume has cemented the Solidarity Lentils Dinner as one of its main fundraising activities and the response from the community has once again been thrilling. In addition to direct registrations for the Dinner, many people helped out by buying raffle tickets and chipping in to Row Zero.
The dinner was supported by numerous partners. Special thanks were given to Sant Ignasi School, the Parents' Association, the Alumni, F.Roca, the school's staff, the 22 Upper Secondary volunteers, the two volunteer photographers and chef Jordi Vilà who was tasked with sharing this year's recipe.
The backing of the businesses which donated prizes for the Raffle was also gratefully acknowledged. They included: Restaurant Pedagògic Loiola, Santuari de Manresa, Bistro Mató de Pedralbes, chef Marga Freudenthal, Vins & Co, Peix a Casa, Vermouth Perucchi, Cava Torelló, La Solella, ColaCao, Ecosalim, Veritas, Restaurant Vivanda, Restaurant Alkimia, Va de Cuina, Storelly Adtech, Restaurant Nomo, Taurus and Flec to Min.
Centre Sant Jaume additionally expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of all the companies and partners who have made this charity event possible.
Centre Sant Jaume's UEC students helped to make the dinner for the 13th Solidarity Lentils Dinner. They began cooking four hours before serving the dinner to the event's attendees. Over the past few weeks they have been running tests in Centre Sant Jaume's kitchens to see how they could best cope with the challenge of cooking for so many people.
Next week, Centre Sant Jaume will share the pictures taken during the evening by the volunteers who helped to capture this special moment for posterity.
"Thanks again to everyone. May the lentils always be with you!" concluded the statement by the organisation's team.
