508 people signed up for the 11th Charity Lentil Dinner, which we held last Thursday 27 April at the Escola Sant Ignasi. Participation has grown by more than a hundred diners compared to the last edition in 2019, raising a total of 19,890 euros.
After two years without being able to celebrate dinner because of the pandemic, some five hundred people met again in the School's canteens. Particularly noteworthy was the participation of young graduates, like the class of 2021, which filled two tables with 55 boys and girls in attendance.
Besides the parents, students, former students and staff from the School, many families from Badalona who are involved in projects at the Sant Jaume Centre also enjoyed the event.
Once again, the company that manages the School's canteen, F. Roca SL, was in charge of cooking the lentils. A service that has been offered for free since the first year the dinner was held in 2012. As a novelty, this year the team of professional chefs had the help of three boys and girls from the Sant Jaume Centre who participate in the different cooking workshops that F. Roca carries out in the entity's facilities in Badalona. Mention should also be made of the collaboration of Carme Ruscalleda, who created the recipe for the dinner.
24 (lucky) people won one of the raffle prizes thanks to the collaboration of companies and individuals who had donated a gift. These were the restaurants Celler Montrubí, Gerbard, Bistró Mató in Pedralbes, the restaurant Pedagògic Loiola, the chef Marga Freudenthal, Cellers Blanch, Vins & Co, Peix a Casa, Vermouth Perucchi, Cava Torelló, La Solella, Cuick, LAJOYA-FOODS and ColaCao.
This year, the dinner coincided with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Sant Jaume Centre. On this occasion, students from the school had prepared various decorative elements and many of the people who attended had previously participated in the commemorative event that took place in the Assembly Hall.
