On 9 September, the feast of St Peter Claver, 27-year-old alumnus Luis Busto pronounced his first vows in the Society of Jesus at the Basilica of St Ignatius of Loyola, together with two other companions. The three of them have completed the two-year stage of the novitiate, which concludes with this ceremony of first vows. From now on, they will continue their formative process with the stage of the juniorate, which Luis will do in Rome.
Luis Busto de Moner has been intimately linked to the pastoral work of the Society of Jesus in Catalonia, in the Casal Loiola, at the CIM youth centre and in the parish of Bellvitge. He was born in Barcelona and is an alumnus of Jesuïtes Sarrià-Sant Ignasi. He holds a degree in Chemistry and a master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the IQS (Chemical Institute of Sarrià). He halted the doctorate he was pursuing in Chicago, in the United States, to enter the novitiate of the Society of Jesus.
"I left a comfortable and steady life to become a Jesuit and give myself to God"
