On Thursday, September 28, in Plaça Major de Sarrià (Barcelona), the 6th edition of the ASSÍS solidarity dinner was held. The last few years have not been easy, which is why the aim of this year's charity dinner was to raise funds for the new building in Assisi, which allows us to guarantee quality support to the homeless.
The students of the vocational programmes of Hospitality, Kitchen Management and Tourist Acommotations of Jesuïtes Sarrià – Sant Ignasi turned the square into an outdoor room for 350 people.
Since the first edition, the Hospitality School of Jesuïtes Sarrià - Sant Ignasi has collaborated with this center in the organization and execution of the dinner and, since this year, in the preparation of the menu as well.
For students in training courses this is a real learning activity, as it is a real practice. The activity begins in the school's practice classrooms and ends with a dinner for 350 diners. At the same time, this activity allows the students to become aware of the reality of the homeless and is an experience to show their solidarity from their future profession.
The ASSÍS Welcome Center is an entity that aims to develop activities focused on improving the quality of life of people at risk, offering a space for positive relationships and making them protagonists of their change processes. To promote these milestones, for the past four years, he has held a charity dinner to raise funds.
Acknowledgments:
This initiative by ASSÍS and the School of Hospitality Sant Ignasi is possible thanks to the altruistic collaboration of organizations, companies and suppliers who offer free furniture, cutlery, crockery and the raw material for the dinner and make it possible for almost all of the proceeds from the charity dinner go directly to the users of the No Homeless Women project.
The funds raised at this year's charity dinner have been for the construction of the new building which allows rights to be guaranteed under the best possible conditions.
